FAVOR

What is Favor?

Favor is an open platform for artists and other creators to publish their content freely and earn money.

It enables anyone to reward great content and getting something back in return.

It has been created by Favor Company Inc. from Rovaniemi, Arctic Circle, Finland.

How does Favor work?

Creating a favor is as simple and free as writing an e-mail or any blog post. Content can be music, videos, pictures, comics, blogs and/or anything else. Your content’s Favor link will be open for all the world to see, so share it with Facebook, Twitter etc.

The trick is to create something so good that people will pay you to make more. Great content leaves nobody cold and people will want to show their support.

Return the Favor is for them. Audience pays what they want and get to take part. Money is paid straight to the artist.

What does a favor mean?

Each content published in the Service is called a favor. Favor is something good that you have created and want to share it with the rest of the world, without any requirement for compensation.

Something you do out of good will.

Favor is also the name of the entire platform which has been developed by Favor Company Inc. Favor is an open platform so you can use it very freely. Remember, however, to use only content you have permission to use.

What is the mission of Favor?

We believe in the free, open internet. We also believe that great content should, and will, be rewarded. With Favor, rewarding great content will be just as natural reaction as an applause or cheer!

How much does it cost to use Favor?

It is absolutely free to create favors and to experience the content.

But we believe that great content should be rewarded so we created a cool thing called....

RETURN THE FAVOR

What does “Return the Favor” mean?

Favor is actually very simple system. There are no “likes”, “thumb ups”, ratings, upvotes, downvotes or any other worthless snippets.

Just one button: Return the Favor

If you find something you really like, return the favor!

  1. Reward the artist with a sum of your choice (minimum is $0.10).
  2. In return you’ll get to take part.
  1. Comment, criticise or even advertise.
  1. The bigger your reward is the higher your content will end up.

Yes it’s voluntary, nobody has to pay. But returning the favor is just cool and the right thing to do.

Don’t worry about the price. Any amount, big or small, will be surely appreciated.

There’s more! After you’ve created your return, the artist, or anyone else, can return your return (aka. comment a comment). That means that with a good comment you might even earn money.

Why my chosen total amount raises when returning to the Return the Favor?

When commenting a comment you have to pay the amount you choose to every commenter (in that comment chain)So if you choose $0.3 and there’s two parent comments, the total will be $0.60.

It’s quite logical and clearly visible when you are returning the favor.

Tip: If you pay, for example $10, a music artist will earn 100 times more than from single iTunes download. Isn’t that cool?

Why should I return the favor? What's in it for me? I already "got the content".

First of all, you should pay a sum you feel is right. Don't pay more.

Second, if what you experienced was really a favor for you, you might feel the urge to give something back in return. If not, you just didn't like it enough. Maybe in the future you'll find something that's valuable to you.

Third, you are actually getting something valuable in return. You get to take part. You get your very own favor beneath the original. Use it as you like, even for advertising. Your returned favor will be available to every single visitor. How long? Perhaps forever or as long as we stay in business.

Returning the favor guarantees that the original favor will remain online. That, however, requires that every content is within the law and terms of service.

Fourth, by openly returning the favor, you are seen as a customer. Someone to please. Your desires for the next content are taken seriously. The artist might even inform you via return about their new content.

And fifth, your return is a favor itself. That means it also can be returned. If your return is valuable (for example, a great comment) you might earn money!

Returning the favor is just the right thing to do!

What is Return the Favor specifically?

It is a sale of the digital advertisement space in relation to publisher’s content. The buyer gets their own content attached to the sellers content.

You choose an amount that you want to reward the artist with. This is called Favor Value. Return the Favor can be simple thank you, detailed comment, advertising, criticism, or any content that you would like to response to the favor.

The name “Return the Favor” tells a lot. Eye for an eye, tit for tat, quid pro quo or Newton’s third law.

It is simply giving something back.

How are returns sorted? Newest first?

Return the Favors are sorted by their Favor Value. The most valuable is the most visible. If two Return the Favors have same value they will line up according to the time they have been made. (The oldest is first.)

CONTENT

How can I categorize my content?

It’s simple. The category is to be set under the Favor editor. You can choose one or create a new when creating a favor.

Is adult content allowed in Favor?

Any content that includes pornography, or obscene violence, or is hate related is forbidden. If you think that your content is not suitable for sensitive viewers you have to mark the content as “age restricted” after published your content (go to Settings below the content you just created).

How long will my information be stored?

Favor Company Inc. shall disable access to all personal information and data associated with your Favor Account within reasonable period of time after the termination, but Favor Company Inc. reserves the right to store such information and data for six months after the termination. This is due for the statutory obligations. You can unpublish your content as long as no returns have been made.

Can I edit or delete my content?

You can edit or delete your content as long as no return the favors has been made. You need to choose “unpublish” or “edit” from Settings below the content.

I uploaded a picture album, and I just want to delete one picture, is it possible?

No. You have to delete the whole album I’m afraid. Perhaps in the future this will be possible.

SHARING

Can I share my favors with social media?

Yes, please! You can, and you should. Favors are free to view and therefore it’s great to link and share them everywhere.

There aren't any embedding functions for video (so far).

How can I embed content from other websites?

There is a link near the content in Youtube and Vimeo to embed a video. We recommend to upload all content to Favor because we cannot, naturally, guarantee the stability of content hosted by some other service.

FAVOR WALLET

What does “Favor Wallet” mean?

As you sign up as a user Favor Wallet will be automatically created.

You can use various payment methods to add money to your Favor Wallet. After adding money to your Favor Wallet, you are able to return the favor.

Notice that transaction fees will be added to the amount. So it is recommended to put a little bit more than just needed. You can fill your Favor Wallet with any amount you want, and use the rest of it later, as you wish.

In your User Panel’s Favor Wallet tab you will see the money that you have added into your Favor Wallet and qualified Return the Favor earnings (so called Favor Value revenue). Favor Value revenue that is under the 30 days qualifying period is called Pending Money.

Favor Wallet works one way only: the money paid into the wallet is irrevocable and non-refundable. It is only used for making Return the Favor transactions and money can not be taken out. If you want to direct your Favor Value revenue to your personal bank account you need to apply for Certified Favor User (CFU) -status. After you've earned over $50 the CFU-application will appear to the User Panel's Favor Wallet tab.

MAKING MONEY

How do I make money in Favor?

Publish great content that leaves people thrilled for more. Share the link.

When people enjoy your content, they’ll want to return the favor. And that means money, paid to the artist – you.

There’s no telling how much you’re going to make. But if you can get thousands of views to your content there will be thousands of possible reasons to take part in your favor. 90% of the payments goes to the publisher. Favor Company Inc. takes 10% of every transaction.

Do I need to pay any taxes?

Paying taxes is at the users responsibility to take care of. Income is income from salesmanship, that comes from selling advertisement space under your favor. Buyer is the viewer returning the favor. You will receive a receipt that has differentiation from selling and buying in Favor.

If your Favor Account is made for your business, fill the Business Information field at your User Panel’s Favor Wallet tab.

Can I get my money back?

Nope. All the money is non-refundable and irrevocable. You can only get your earned Favor Value revenue to your Personal Money Account (if you have certified yourself), not the money you have put in the Service.

Who is the seller when I purchase Return the Favor?

The creator of each favor is the seller.

Why just 90%? Where does the rest of it go?

Favor Company Inc. takes 10% share of each transaction. This is for cover our administrative expenses and for the developing of the Service. It’s also the tool to prevent the misuses.

QUALIFYING PERIOD

What is qualifying period? Why there is pending money in my Favor Wallet?

Every Return the Favor transaction must go through the 30 days qualifying period.

Criteria for the successful payment

1) The payment is received.

  • If the payment isn’t received, Return the Favor related to it will be removed and the rest of the unreceived money from the user’s Favor Wallet will be withdrew. Remaining Favor Value will be removed from the user’s Favor Wallet even if the user haven’t done any Return the Favors with them.

2) The seller or the buyer haven’t broke the Terms of Service with their content.

3) Thirty (30) days qualifying period expires.

Money under qualifying period is seen as Pending Money in Favor user’s Favor Wallet.
