Favor (www.favor.org) was published on wednesday 22nd of June 2011 after two years of development.

Favor is an international publishing tool that transforms open sharing to artists’ living.

With the Favor frontpage, anyone can publish their content, their favor, whether it is a blog post, music, video or anything. Creating a favor is free and simple.
After publishing, the creator will share the link with social media or discussion forums. The link opens like any other link: free for all without payments or registration. The word “favor” means something good you do for others without requiring anything.

Now is the turn for the greatest feature of Favor: Return the Favor. It’s like a comment field with added picture and video functions, but it is also something far more valuable.

To return the favor you need to reward the creator with an amount you choose. The minimum amount is $0.10 but the more you pay the more visible place you get. The biggest fans are always on the front row! These returns can also be commented, so a good comment could in fact be profitable!

Reasons to return the favor are many: the will to applause, to comment, to criticize or even to advertise along the content. Favor is open to all: to individuals and companies. Favor is about free and open speech in a valuable environment. The payments are made via Favor Wallet which is filled with Credit Cards or PayPal. Favor Company Inc. receives 10% of each transaction.

Favor Company Inc. is a startup-company founded in January 2010 in Rovaniemi, Finland. Behind the scenes are most notably the founders Jaakko Saarenketo and Stina Varkkola. Saarenketo and Varkkola studies Audiovisual mediaculture at University of Lapland but are currently full-time entrepreneurs. Saarenketo is from Rovaniemi and Varkkola from Espoo.

Favor team’s head count is currently 7 with software developers, legal advisors and trainees. The software company KovaKoodarit has also had a strong role in design and development.

Favor Company Inc. has received EU-funding from Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment as well as other common finnish support mechanisms. Rovaniemi Regional Development Agency Ltd has also had a strong involvement.
