We're very happy to hear any feedback. There's a good amount of links in the sidebar so everyone can find their prefered method.

Favor is currently in beta-stage. Here's a short roadmap of upcoming features and descriptions of different technical problems. Early 2012, we decided to focus on comics, so these features will reflect on that.

What's wrong?
 

The Favor Editor is difficult and annoying!
We agree. The current editor where all media is inside one editable rich text field causes a lot of problems. But no worries - we're currently developing FE2012, Favor Editor 2012.

Here's a mockup of what's coming. It will be finished & online on April 2012.

I don't like how it looks!
There's more than 20 themes to choose from and the opportunity to add your own css, which allows almost everything.

If that's not enough, just contact us and we'll work together. Our goal is that Favor will be a very beautiful platform that emphasises the content (not advertisers, features or our brand). If you have any ideas, we're happy to help you to develop new themes that you're happy with.

Also, the main appearance is more consistent all the time. With the new editor, the sidebar will be removed which will be a lot better for comics.

I want a cool, simple site like XKCD.COM
So Favor is a great choice for you. By editing the navigation, you can choose to point your homepage to your latest release (rather than the default list) just like XKCD does.

How about Google Analytics?
It's already possible. Go to your User Panel and insert your Analytics tracking ID there.

What about ownership? I don't want to give up my rights!
And you won't. Even though you are publishing your content freely to the whole world, you are not giving up on any rights - unless you want to. We have the most common Creative Commons licenses available to choose if you'd want to.

Money? Earnings? It sounds confusing!
Favor is free to use, publish as often as you like.

Money comes in when you want to Return the Favor to an artist you like. This is 100% voluntary but also very cool, since the money goes to the artist! Just like rewarding a street performer.

When you find something worth your money, the big "Return the Favor" -buttons get's you started. The payments are paid from your Favor Wallet which is filled with PayPal, credit cards or finnish web banks.

Will you compress the images I upload?
We will create a compressed version (max width is 840px) which will be shown to visitors… Unless they click the image and then they will see the image you originally uploaded.

If you're not satisfied with the results, contact us! The reason for compressing is not to save couple pennies in hosting but to make the page as fast as possible without compromising quality. 

Why english?
Favor is a open, global platform. We believe in a borderless internet an so chose to use 1 language and 1 currency. Having said that, nothing stops you from releasing content in the language you want.

I don't think anyone would pay for comments!
Think again buster! It's happening, and by looking at statistics the RPM rate for artists is very high.

RPM means "revenue per thousand impressions" and it's commonly used to describe the effectiveness of making money. In Favor, the value is very high. http://jaakko.favor.org/want-to-earn-money-with-videos--favor-brings-42-times-more-than-youtube/ 

Not everyone will reward the artist, but when there's a crowd, there's always some people who will take the necessary steps. And in Favor the steps aren't that difficult. No monthly fees or hard registrations.

A few important bugs:

When deleting a word using ctrl+backspace, this editor deletes the preceding word and the space before it. It should only delete the word and leave the space intact. It actually looks as if the space was preserved, but when starting to type a new word the space disappears.

When doing an “undo” after deleting a word, the cursor is transported to mysterious places in this editor. Quite annoying.

If one selects “back” at the confirmation dialog after clicking the “Return the favor” button and then proceeds to publish the text anyway, the text apparently disappears and one is transported back to the “All in Favor” view.

A few suggestions for improvement:

It would be convenient if posting Youtube videos could be done simply by copying the URL of the video, rather than the longer embed code. Not a big deal, of course.

Automatic updates about new Favors should be posted to the creator’s Facebook .

At some point it might be useful if all updates to a blog or Youtube channel could be automatically sent to Favor via an RSS feed or something.

I just tested with win XP + firefox and the first bug you described is gone!

The Undo-issue might be better, but there's still some funny business.

At the moment there's couple very handy tools for automatic posts and updates:

 RSS-feed icon in case anyone reading this is wondering...

You can set the publish date favor-specifically, so you can create a weeksworth of releases at one time. And, since every user has an RSS feed, you can use tools like feedburner to transform that RSS-feed into a machine which post automatically to Facebook and Twitter. It also has a subscribe with email-function.

If you've missed our last update report, please read it. I think we really improved a lot of stuff.

I agree, but it doesn't happen on my browser (Chrome, OSX). I'll notify the testers to see if they can reproduce the problem.

Yes. It would be helpful. Automatic updates are a little risky because Facebook might more easily consider it spam. But I think sooner or later we'll develop that feature.

Maybe. But when you have Favor, why use a blog? It's so 2010's. :)
That feature will probably come up in the future when we open up the API for publishing Favor. It would be cool to create Favors just by sending the content to a specific email-address.

Aina pitää painaa päivitä nappulaa kun on kirjautunut sisään. Ei kovin vakava juttu mutta prompi olis ilman. Toisekseen, pystyykö Favorissa selaamaan julkaistua tavaraa ihan julkaisujärjestyksessä? Minusta on hyvä että presettinä on se juurikin tämä, että mitä sponsoroidumpi teos niin sitä ylempänä. Mutta ois jees jos ois vaihtoehto selata eri laillakin, esim juuri julkaisujärjestyksessä.

Tuo refreshaus-ongelma tulee poistumaan jahka päästään nostamaan ankkurit ja irtautumaan betasta ja .fiistä.

Luotujen sisältöjen selaaminen aikajärjestyksessä on mahdollista niin All in Favor -sivulla kuin käyttäjien profiileissakin, kun valitsee oikeasta reunasta All, Favors tai Returns ja sitten Recent. 
Aukeavan sivun tuloksia pystyy alareunan nuolista kahlaamaan syvemmälle historiaan.

Hienoa työtä!

 1. maksaessa oli ongelmia. Saatoin maksaa kaksi kertaa! painoin op logoa, mutta mitään ei tapahtunut. Sitten painoin visa nappia ja laitoin visanumerot, sitten avautuikin osuuspankin tunnistus! Ainakin siinä kohti ohjeistus oli sekava.

2. Värit. Heti ensimmäisenä iski silmään että käytössä olevat värit luovat sivustolle halvan tunnelman. Esittelyvideon ja Logon graafisuus loivat lupauksen jostain hienommasta... Mieleeni tulee ilmaiset wiki-sivustot kuten wikispaces.com. Muutenkin ulkoasu on jotenkin wikimäinen. 

3. Hieno, että favoreita (r) :D voi säätää ja muokata  niin monella tavalla, mutta kehittelisin favorin muokkausta vielä käyttäjäysävällisemmäksi (yksinkertaisemmaksi?) Esim. Kuva, jonka lisäsin tuli esiin aivan liian suurena. Se täytyi itse osata pienentää. Ehkä se olisi voinut muuntautua palikaksi, niinkuin alkuperäisen facebookin aikaan ne wall palikat.

4. Tiedostojen uploadaus ikkuna ja osa muitakin ikkunoita sekavan näköisiä

5. Kun olin maksanut, näin kuitin. Kuitti sivulta ei päässyt pois. (?)

6. Development chatin tunnukset?

7. kuva, video, ääni, exe/dmg logot tossa sivulla ovat hyvässä paikassa ja aika selkeät. Minun silmään ne ovat kuitenkin vähän rumat/karut. S- kysyi: mitä kukka tarkoittaa?

1. Ei avadu eka silmäyksellä (mikä tämä on), pitäis varmaan nähdä suoraan nuo jo katsottavissa olevat favorit, vaikka ei olis logannukkaan vielä..

2. Ei avaudu tokallakaan silmäyksellä..

3. Tienesti mahdollisuus pitäisi kertoa vielä selkeämmin

4. Tää maksupolitiikka on mielenkiintoinen..en tiedä toimiiko niin että voi lahjoittaa rahaa vaikka ei olisikaan logannut sisään? ja ladannut tilille rahaa.. Esim jok mobiilimaksu voisi olla kätevä? Voi olla että tää toimiiki niin..

5. Jotain ulkoasujuttuja, käyttistä vois viilailla..

Mutta loppujen lopuksi ihan toimiva ja selkeäkin sittenkun ymmärtää mistä kyse, mutta tohon ensikertatlijan ymmärtämiseen satsaisin itse vielä resursseja.

Tälläista kommenttia tuli eräältä huippu ammattilaiselta :) Otamme maanantaina puheeksi.

Is it a feature or a bug that continuing a thread becomes progressively more expensive, since to reply you need to pay the minimum sum to all previous posters? Of course much of the cost is returned if you have been a participant in the thread earlier, so it's not a big deal.

I tried to post with a smaller sum going to each earlier comment so that my netcost would be $ 0,1, but it failed. The error message received was partly blocked by other UI elements:

 After the error message I was unable to add pictures or video to the post. Perhaps for unrelated reasons. After refreshing I recreated my post and I managed to add pictures, but couldn't resize them except horizontally. Trying to post resulted in an error "J is null", after which I was sent back to the "All in Favor" view.

This is with Firefox 4.0.1 using Windows 7.

It's is a feature. But, like you said, usually a big part of the cost gets returned back to you.

$0.1 is the smallest amout you can reward one Favor. And considering a chain or Favors and Returns has many Favors, the smallest total amount is (the size of the chain) * $0.10.

Having the Value on only increments of $0.10 helps the counting and prevents the need for smaller amount than $0.01. It's all a part of the big plan :)

Anyway, thanks for the error messages you posted. Those aren't features but clear errors and they'll be fixed soon.
