About us
Once upon the time there was a red bearded dude in the cottage at the Arctic Circle struggling with the problems of the internet: it’s free, easy and handy tool for sharing all kinds of content, but is it sustainable to be not paying of anything?
How are musicians paying their instruments?
How does the graphic designer pay her rent?
Does the writer need to work as a paperboy to get something to eat?
Why is it that the web is filled with great content, but empty of the appropriate reward?
“426 people likes” is nice, but you can’t feed your cat with it.
All of these questions needed to be answered urgently and fairly. And there it was, the obvious answer powered by the fresh Lapland air and midnight sun: we need to return the favors for these talented people who makes our days brighter. Favors and Return the Favors started to find their way from behind the red beard. Little bald girl arrives with her riding reindeer to help and so started Favor Company Inc. to get it’s form.
Today, after two years of brainstorming we are the start-up firm with 4 people at Rovaniemi, the capital of Northern Finland. Our main goal is to make Favor heard and used all over the internet.
We do believe in kindness and good will, free speech and fair rewarding.
We also do believe, that there is lots of people thinking alike.
Jaakko Saarenketo and Stina Varkkola are the owners of the Favor Company Inc. Jaakko is the master mind behind everything. Hi answers numbers and does CEO-stuff. Stina handles marketing and communications and takes care of the users.
Joni Palosaari is our head developer and a brilliant software engineer. It’s thanks to him that Favor does exist and gets better and better. Saluting you Joni!
Janita Korva is with us to take care that everything Favor Company Inc. does goes by the law book, and that we won’t do mistakes when it comes to the legal issues. And have to admit, that in everything we do, we need Janita! Its not easy to put up a company to the wild-wild-web.
Anna Hänninen spent this summer at at the legal department doing priceless efforts and building the lawful stone base of the company. But she needs to travel, and we do wish nothing but the best in her future projects and life in Sevilla!
Risto Mustonen, Anniina Poikela, Aleksi Kauppila, Aku Shemeikka, Tommi Puolamaa and Mikko Taipale spent many months as software engineer interns testing and developing the platform and Eveliina Paksuniemi helped us with the third sector and charity things.
